Vulnerable missing child from Oxton area located after one hour thanks to Nottinghamshire Police drone team

A vulnerable missing 12-year-old boy was found thanks to a police drone thermal camera.

Nottinghamshire Police's drone team aided response officers on Saturday, at around 8pm, to help find the child missing from the Oxton area.

Officers said it had started to get cold and dark and, without the thermal camera, it would have been next to impossible to locate him.

The drone's pilot helped to direct officers to the boy who was found safe just over an hour later.

The case is the latest in a string of success stories for the team of specially-trained officers who are complementing the work of their colleagues on the ground by supporting everything from drug warrants and river rescues, to policing large-scale football matches.

In the short time the team has been in the sky, they have proved to be invaluable in supporting officers on the ground.
