The Falklands war veteran Mr Simon Weston spoke about his experiences of the conflict and the care he received afterwards at a conference on Friday.

The conference at Newark Showground was organised for carers and care home workers by Nottinghamshire County Council to encourage people to treat the elderly and disabled with dignity as part of their Dignity Challenge campaign.

Mr Weston, a former Welsh Guardsman, received severe burns during the Falklands war when the ship he and his regiment were travelling on, the RFA Sir Galahad, was bombed by enemy fighter jets.

He told those at the conference how important it was to treat others with dignity.
