Newark and Sherwood District Council issue fraud warning over council tax scam

A council has warned of a new council tax scam.
Newark and Sherwood District Council is warning residents that a number of people have reported that they have been contacted by fraudsters using gov.uk branding in text messages stating that they were due a council tax refund.
This was followed by a link to claim the refund.
The district council is urging residents not to reply, click on any links or disclose bank account details or any other personal information if contacted by anyone offering such a service.
