Warnings after house fire

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue has issued a warning urging people to check electrical equipment following a house fire in Cotgrave yesterday.

The fire spread through the entire house on Chennel Nook, caused by an electrical fault on the dishwasher.

Home owners, Steve and Glenis Baxter, lost all their possessions and photographs in the fire, including those of their 18-year-old daughter Katie who was murdered seven-years-ago.

Firecrews from West Bridgford, Bingham and Nottingham were called to the incident at around 11am and were in attendance for around five hours.

After attempting to tackle the blaze from inside, firefighters called in the services of a high-rise ladder appliance.

The couple's lurcher was rescued from the blaze and was administered oxygen by firefighters. It has made a full recovery.

Mrs Baxter, who was at home at the time of the incident, was also unhurt.

Neighbouring properties suffered minor smoke and water damage.
