"Intense thundery downpours" with hail and wind are likely to hit Newark from lunchtime today.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the East Midlands, and says that "scattered but potentially intense thundery downpours" will affect the region.

The public are also being warned that the heavy rain may bring surface flooding.

Although the Met Office says it is difficult to predict the worst affected areas, the Chief Forecaster warns that around 20mm of rain could fall within an hour "at a few locations."
