Win helps pupils to go green
A school won a greenhouse that will help pupils continue their focus on helping the environment.
Chuter Ede Primary School, Balderton, is one of 50 schools to win a greenhouse through npower’s Little Green Fingers competition. It even has a solar panel and heating system.
The school has a gardening club, vegetable patch and chickens. Teachers hope these, along with the greenhouse, will help pupils to learn to respect the environment and their surroundings.
The Little Green Fingers competition is part of a campaign to help younger children learn about the potential of renewable energy.
A wildlife area, with a pond and wetland area, is being created at the school by staff from Staythorpe Power Station.
The area will form part of a nature reserve that includes a world war two-style garden.
