Wind turbines get go ahead
A wind farm of five turbines looks set to go ahead at Bilsthorpe after a planning appeal was allowed.
A planning inspector, Mr Alan Robinson, said the proposal on land at Stonish Hill and the former Bilsthorpe Colliery, on Eakring Road, would have an adverse impact on the rural landscape and the setting of Eakring Conservation Area.
But found the benefits of generating energy from renewable sources, the contribution to climate change and to meeting regional renewable energy targets were sufficient to outweigh the limited harm.
The development includes a mast, sub-station and access tracks for a 25-year operational period.
The appeal was made by Harworth Power Ltd and Eakring Farming Ltd against last year’s refusal by Newark and Sherwood District Council.
Eakring Turbine Action Group opposed the plans.
