Woman explores Newark's history with live blogs
A woman has started a live blog exploring the history of Newark.
Errin Goodwin, 36, who moved to Newark from Mansfield in December, has started blogging about landmarks in Newark.
In her free time around her work as a part-time supply teacher and raising her two children, Errin has visited and blogged about places including Kelham Hall, Sconce and Devon Park and Newark Parish Church.
Errin said: “I’m just doing it for fun really, to get to know the area and it’s nice to interact with new people.
“I do a bit of research on the area, I went to the castle and I just talk about a bit of history behind it. It’s really interesting.”
She recently explored the old gypsum grinding mill, on the former Hawton Works site, where she uncovered the history of the site.
Errin’s blogs have proved popular, with more than 1,000 people having joined her Facebook group The Live Blogger, and she has more plans for upcoming blogs, including one featuring a Newark-based singer.
Errin added: “It’s been nice to make friends doing it. I used to do online selling so I’m used to talking to people and stuff like that, but I’ve never done blogging — its totally new.”
