A woman is organising a 80s charity night at Southforest, Edwinstowe to fundraise for Dementia UK

A woman is organising a fancy dress party to fundraise in honour of her late father.

Sharon Weston is hosting an 80s fancy dress night to fundraise for Dementia UK on September 2, a day after what would have been her father’s birthday.

She used to be a full-time carer for her dad, Ken Saxton for the years he had Parkinson’s and Dementia before he was transferred to a care home with 24-hour support.

Sharon said: “I lost my dad to dementia two years ago and this totally ripped my heart out as my dad was and still is my hero.”

The event is taking place at Southforest in Edwinstowe as the manager, Julie English is a close friend of the family.

Sharon is appealing for companies to donate a prize for the first, second and third best fancy dress outfits at the event.

People who wish to support the event can buy a £5 raffle, a Wowcher gift or donate prizes for the event.

To contact Sharon email at shazbat78@hotmail.co.uk or call spray-tech on Boughton camp.

Tickets are available at the Southforest reception for £10.

“I think we all have been touched by dementia in some way be it a family member, a friend or a colleague and there are careers and families out there that also need support,” she concluded.
