Bingham woman known for her themed trails organises extensive Easter egg hunt for families to enjoy
A woman has organised an extensive Easter egg hunt for families to enjoy after already hosting three other trails since October.
Sarah Hills, of Bingham, initially created a Halloween hunt for children in the town by asking people to display a pumpkin in their window.
Seeing the positive impact it was having, Sarah further organised a Santa and Christmas lights trail as well as a Valentine’s Day hunt — with those involved rising each time.
For the Easter hunt, Sarah has draped the exterior of her home in hanging eggs, hopping bunnies and bright flowers. She has even created a chick hotel for youngsters to have a giggle at.
“The Easter hunt is one of the best I’ve done,” said Sarah. “My trails have just gone so mad and I’ve had people telling me not to stop doing them.
“I’ve struggled with mental health for many years, so this is what has got through the lockdowns.
“The whole process has taken me around five weeks, but it took me three days alone to put up all of my decorations. I feel so overwhelmed about the support sometimes that I could just sit and cry.
“The other day I heard someone shout ‘oh wow mummy!’ and get very excited when they saw my house. I just wish you could hear the kids.”
There are 189 properties taking part in the Easter egg hunt, each of which have been allocated a number.
To win an Easter egg, one to five year olds have to find 75 windows on the list, six to eight year olds 100 each and nine to 11 year olds 125.
Participants will need to collect an entry form from 1 Abbey Road, Bingham. Once you’ve completed the hunt, you will need to return your form to 2 Margaret Place, Bingham.
You will then also be entered into a draw to win a large Easter egg.
On Sunday, April 11, Daniel Moncaster — who was severely injured in a hit and run — will pick a winner from a hat for each age group.
The Easter egg hunt runs until April 10.
