Nottinghamshire County Council launches schemes to improve broadband speeds

Residents and businesses in Nottinghamshire are encouraged to contact the county council if their broadband speeds are not as fast as they should be.

The council is hoping to build on its digital infrastructure to find out how to reach communities that are less well served, building a better picture of the digital needs of the population.

There are a range of schemes to improve digital connectivity, including Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire and the Nottinghamshire Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.

Council leader Kay Cutts, said: “With many working from home, home schooling and generally accessing the internet more during the coronavirus pandemic, fast reliable connectivity has never been so important.”

“Working closely with partner organisations the county council has made excellent progress to improve digital connectivity across all of Nottinghamshire.

"As a county, we are leading the way not only regionally but nationally too, Nottinghamshire is in the top three most digitally connected counties in the UK.”

In September 2020 the council invested £750,000 to step up efforts in delivering high-speed broadband to the most rural areas of the county.
