Wounds were self-inflicted

A man found with serious injuries yesterday (Wednesday) in a country lane has told police he caused the wounds himself.

The Derbyshire man was found with cuts made by a bladed instrument at around 1.40pm at Redhill Lane, Bothamsall.

He was airlifted to hospital for treatment but his injuries were later confirmed as not life-threatening.

The man, who is in his 40s, remains in hospital and made the admission to officers today.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and the man is being offered support.
