International writers group release poetry collection in aid of Ukraine
A collection of poems have been published reflecting on the horror of the war in the Ukraine.
Among those contributing to Voices For Ukraine is Margaret Royall, of Norwell.
Members of the International Zoom Writers Group from the US, UK and Europe wanted to show solidarity and empathy for the people of Ukraine and raise money for a charity that provides hot meals for refugees on the borders with the Ukraine.
Many of the poems in the book were written in the first few weeks of the war.
The writers first came together over Zoom in the early days of lockdown. Many of them are still working together fortnightly, organised by author Angela Locke and co-host Rebekah Spivey in the US.
All money raised from the book’s cover price and additional donations will go to World Central Kitchen, which provides hot meals for refugees fleeing across the border into Poland and other host countries.
The group says their book, funded entirely by the writers themselves, would be a fitting way to extend the hand of friendship and comfort to those desperate families fleeing the war.
You are invited to donate the cover price of the book and, if you wish, to add a voluntary donation to the cover price of £2.50 for a PDF or £5 for a physical copy.
Copies can be bought by emailing margaretroyall@icloud.com and requesting either a PDF copy for download, or the booklet which will be posted.
Donations should be made directly to World Central Kitchen.
The nearest bookshop stocking the booklet is Lindum Books, Bailgate, Lincoln.
