An artist who painted every weekday for a year will be showcasing his work at a two-week exhibition from Saturday.

Mr Ken Devine, 59, of Lincoln Road, Newark, will be selling his work, and a book of his paintings, at the town’s St Mark’s Gallery.

He took part in an online challenge that started in August 2011 to paint a separate piece every weekday for a year. He painted scenes from photographs taken on his travels, and scenes of Newark.

“It was a big commitment,” he said. “I lacked motivation or inspiration at times. It was a massive undertaking.”

Mr Devine said it was most difficult to paint during family holidays but he has continued most days since the challenge ended.

Ken Devine: A Daily Painter’s Journal, which includes 150 of his paintings from the project, will be available at the exhibition and online at kendevine.blogspot.co.uk
