A yellow warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office as Storm Eleanor heads for the Newark area.

The warning is in force from 6pm today until 6pm tomorrow.

The Met Office has warned of gales and severe gales affecting northern England late on Tuesday and overnight, clearing Eastern England tomorrow morning.

It said: "Wednesday daytime sees a very blustery day, with squally gusts accompanying showers in many areas.

"Throughout this period, gusts of 60 to 70 mph are likely along exposed coasts, with the more exposed locations seeing gusts close to 80 mph.

"Inland gusts exceeding 60 mph are possible."
