Met Office issue yellow weather warning for strong winds in Newark and Sherwood




A yellow weather warning for strong winds in the Advertiser area has been issued.

The warning has been issued by the Met Office ­— the United Kingdom's national weather service.

The forecaster said winds are expected to surpass 35mph between 10pm Wednesday (February 6) and 9am Thursday (February 7).

They said: "Very strong winds on Wednesday night across central parts of the UK."

The yellow weather warning for strong winds ends tomorrow lunch time, and returns Friday (February 8) at noon.

High wind speeds will remain in place until 6pm on Saturday (February 9).

The Met Office predicts Saturday afternoon will see the most dangerous wind speeds, reaching 48mph.

There are likely to be delays to road and rail transport over the aforementioned dates.

Some rural communities could become cut off and power cuts may occur with other services such as mobile phone coverage also possible affected.
