Newark town centre business The Fabric Daisy to close next month

Another shop is closing its doors in Newark town centre.

Independent business The Fabric Daisy, which sells fabric, childrenswear and haberdashery, will close on Saturday, February 19.

Owner Sally Harrison, of Balderton, launched the business in 2016 in a different location, and has been in the market place since November 2019.

She said: “It’s tough. The week of deciding to close we only had four people in a week.

“It’s sad and I am going to miss it, but unfortunately online is busier than the shop is.

“I can’t justify having a shop any more.”

The pandemic has played a big role in The Fabric Daisy’s closure, as less people have been coming into the town centre.

Sally said she felt the pandemic had changed the way people shop.

She said: “I don’t think it’s ever going to come back, not for a long time anyway.”

Sally is considering keeping the business going online, but has not made a final decision yet.
