A nine-year-old started her own handmade bracelet business to earn pocket money.
Rosa Knapton, 9 of Southwell started selling bracelets outside her mum’s office porch, next door the the Been Queen Honey Shop at the Bull Yard in Southwell.
After her mum, Imogen, posted about Rosa’s sales on a Facebook group, people from across the country contacted her about bracelets and bead donations.
Rosa, who started being home-schooled in September, decided to use a pot of beads that she had for a long time to amuse herself while her mother was working.
As she started giving bracelets away to her friends, Imogen suggested that Rosa sell bracelets for pocket money.
“The community has been really sweet and supportive, even people we don’t know have sent beads to her,” said Imogen.
“She is so excited, every time she finds a pound in her honesty box she is just jumping for joy.”
Each bracelet costs £1 and rings are 50p. Despite being sold mostly in Southwell, some of her bracelets have travelled overseas to people in Berlin and Dubai.
People can request different colours and designs for the bracelets including names and words.
The nine-year-old said: “I quite like discovering new types of designs I can make and selling them to people on the street.
“From making the bracelets to talking and selling it to people, I enjoy every second of it.”
Imogen added: “We are very proud of her but because she is so brave in her selling technique, she is very happy to approach people and she is very personable so people enjoy talking to her.
“She is a businesswoman and we can all learn something from her.”
