Young entrepreneurs have launched a product that aims to boost children’s creativity and imagination.

The team of 15 year 12 students from Minster School, Southwell, have started their own business, Once Upon A Time.

They are taking part in the Young Enterprise Scheme, which encourages young people to develop their own company.

Once Upon A Time is a game created for children aged three to ten.

Student Rebecca Pritchett, the company’s managing director, said: “It includes a selection of cards to push children to understand key words and develop their ability to be creative and build imaginative sentences.

“Each set consists of 48 individual cards, which all include three words carefully selected and tested by our team to fit the child’s curriculum, needs, and focuses.

“Card themes range from animals to princes and princesses, and from food to space. There is something for every child.

“The cards can be used anywhere for a fun game with children while subconsciously training their phonetics and supplying them with challenging objectives to motivate and encourage expressiveness.”

The aim is also to get youngsters away from spending time on technology such as mobile phones and video games.

The cards can also be used with younger children to spark an early development of reading skills and recognition techniques.

Rebecca said: “Simply read through the cards with children, identifying key phonics or they can make their own stories for them to enjoy.

“I believe the Young Enter-prise Scheme has really enriched a lot of us with lifelong skills such as confidence, leadership and teamwork, and it has been an experience that has been worthwhile.”

The group will be at a trade fair in Nottingham Market Square on Saturday where people can find out more about the product or buy a set of cards.
