Remember Caesar's Palace? Two friends get inside Newark's Corn Exchange to document what it looks like now, years after it shut as a nightclub

A film has emerged on YouTube that shows two friends taking a tour of the inside of Newark's former nightclub, the Corn Exchange, which has been empty and locked up for a number of years.

The men, one of whom uses the name Ste G, appear adept at entering empty and derelict historic buildings for the purposes of documenting them rather than causing damage.

In fact, Ste G promises a new video from somewhere every Friday on his YouTube channel.

They tour the club, which has had various guises, including Time and Diva, Arabesque, and Caesar's Palace, and find it eerie and remarkably intact.

They document public areas, including the bars and dancefloors, toilets and the previously-restricted areas, such as the offices and cloakroom.

They turn the power on, lighting up the inside as if it were still an operating club.

They also go on to the roof of the Castlegate venue.

At no point do they appear to damage anything or force entry into any part of the building, saying that's not what they do, and that they have respect for the historic buildings they are documenting.

The Corn Exchange, which is a listed building, was opened on September 27, 1848.

It was used not only for the corn market, held every Wednesday, but also for lectures, exhibitions and musical entertainments.

It was a bingo hall from 1971 to 1993 and a nightclub from 1994 to 2011.

It was named as one of the UK's neglected historic buildings most urgently in need of TLC in 2018.

The list from the Save Britain's Heritage group was compiled following a public vote on Twitter.

Newark Police said no offences had been committed. Trespass is a civil matter.

Police said the venue had since been secured.
