I totally agree with Colin Green (Do More To Keep Litter At Bay, News Views, July 6).
The litter is such a problem now that when on our regular walk by the river at Farndon my wife and I take two carrier bags with us and most times fill them with rubbish from around the village.
I agree with Mr Green that local authorities have a duty to make sure the bins are emptied before they start over-flowing, but the problem will never go away until people stop dropping their litter everywhere.
What worries me most is that the litter we collect on our walk is recyclable — ie plastic bottles and tin cans.
It would be nice to see a deposit charge on the plastic bottles, but that’s another story. — PAUL DACHTLER, Fosse Road, Farndon.
