It seems the facade of the Robin Hood Hotel, a daily eyesore for residents and commuters, could be made “aesthetically acceptable” to the eyes of the world as Tour Of Britain cyclists flash past because it is important that Newark looks its best.

Newark and Sherwood District Council would be hiding this ugliness from millions of viewers when its own taxpayers have been forced to suffer the blight on the landscape right in the centre of town for years.

Also, I hope the cyclists don’t come down my road, as the surface in front of my house is breaking up badly and they would come off their bikes if they went over the pothole at speed. — CAROLE LOWE, Nicholson Street, Newark.
