Adam Holland beats the wall for ultra victory

Endurance runner Adam Holland completed his remarkable recent run of success with another victory.

The Notfast member, of Newark, won the 69-mile ultra-marathon Rat Race — The Wall along Hadrian’s Wall.

Despite intense heat and a fall at 41 miles, which badly bruised his leg, Holland pushed through the pain barrier to win in 10hrs 30mins 17secs.

Jeremy Reichelt ran the Jack Walters Memorial Notts 10-mile road race at Holme Pierrepont in 1-19-54.

Gill Goode completed the Samoens 18km trail run in France 4-40 and Steven White and Chris Mumby finished the Hull 10k in 49-34 and 1-16-30 respectively.

NOTFAST were well represented at the Dark Peak Trail Run, which included a 12k event with a 856ft climb.

Nikki Dales was first back for the club in 1-41-39, followed by Andy Floyd (1-46-10) Angela Brown (1-46-11) Kirsty Jackson (1-58-03) and Faye Hemingway (1-58-12).

In the 25.1k event, which included a 2,024ft climb, Caroline Upton finished in 3-19-48 and Adam Jackson in 4-09-21.

Stuart Ashley did the 27-mile Baslow Bootbash in 9-35 for 92nd place out of a field of 153.


Peter Davis won a bronze medal in the V60 age category at the Notts 10-mile road race. The Newark Strider finished in 1-14-51, ahead of teammates Jean-Louis Balestra in 1-28-35 and Wyn Thomas in 1-31-55.

Eddie Jones completed the Woodhall Spa triathlon — a 400m swim, 25k bike ride and 5k run — in 2-02-38.

Four Striders tackled the Hull 10k. First to finish was Nick Beveridge in 46-32, followed by Rebecca Clift (58-31) Donna Beveridge (1-09-52) and Anthea Moisey (1-16-12).

Stacey Atkins completed the Ironman Staffordshire 70.3 in just over eight hours.

She achieved a personal best in the 1.2-mile swim ahead of a 56-mile bike ride and a half-marathon.
