Athletes from two Newark clubs run in events from Doncaster to Liverpool




Conditions were excellent for the Doncaster 10k as 21 Newark Striders and four members of the Newark Athletic Club took to their heels.

For the Newark Athletic Club, Tom Marshall hit a new personal best of 33-51, Becky Gallop ran 36-22, Lee Braigthwaite 41-37, and Kim Etheringron- Bates came in at 49-19.

Ed Buck is back from the USA for Christmas and was joined by Conor Pacey who both ran in Liverpool at the Cross Country Challenge for the Newark Athletic Club.

The event had athletes competing for the European cross country team Buck came 34th and Pacey finished in 118th position.

For the Newark Striders, Matt Silk was first to finish in 38-57.

He was followed by three striders who all hit their personal bests: Joe Pogson ran 40-22, Hannah Jackson 43-33, and Chris Cantwell finished in 44-54.

Mark Turner was next in for the club with 45-02, followed by Mark Winter 45-59, Steven Padgett 46-25, Steve White 48-12, Niceeta Padgett 49-03, David Daubney 49-36, Graham Welsh 50-19, Liz Taylor 50-33 and Andy Scott 51-02.

Jason Cobb and Simon Palmer both finished in 51-14, followed by Kath Scott who set a personal best of 57-26, Karen Illsley 57-27, Stacey Atkins 58-28, Jenny Palmer 1-01-16, Gemma Latham 1-07-52 and Jane Watkin in a time of 1-08-07 who was running her first 10K race.

In the muddy and undulating Edwinstowe 10K trail race, Newark Striders had Alistair McGrory, racing for the first time in Strider’s orange finish in 53-27 then Debbie Dewey 1-11-04, Trudi Bayes 1-12-47, Anthea Moisey 1-14-57 and Lynne Chamberlain 1-26-08.
