25 promising juniors earn call-ups
Junior members have excelled at a hockey club over the past year with several being selected for county squads.
A total of 25 youngsters from Newark Hockey Club have been invited to train at the Nottinghamshire Junior Academy Centre.
They are all part of the youth squad that trains on Sunday mornings, along with around 125 other youth members.
Tim Burch, the chairman of Newark’s junior section, said he was delighted the academy was going from strength to strength.
“I am extremely pleased that we have got so many of them who have achieved the county standard,” he said.
“It is a great achievement.
“Players are bedded in sparingly into the senior squads from the age of 13. There are a lot of promising players.”
