Newark Tennis Club sweep wins in the last weekend of January

Preparation for a busy February could not have gone better for Newark Tennis Club as they rounded out the month with success.

The club used their home-court advantage as the Ladies and Mixed teams both got wins.

The Ladies dominated Grantham in a 78-30 victory which saw the team press and refuse the visitors any chance of a comeback.

Sara Jackson/Steph Smith won comfortably, taking their sets 9-3, 10-2, 10-2.

Dawn Cartledge and Nathalie Vioules also won all three sets 8-4, 8-4,

11-1.

Rounding out the team win were the pairing of Katy Dines/Tamara Bainbridge who were challenged but managed to hold out as they scored

9-3,7-5,6-6.

In the mixed competition, the 2nd team found the first pair challenging but were able to defeat the other pairings as they won 64-44 against a good Keyworth side.

John Bramley/Tamara Bainbridge came away 4-8, 8-4, 9-3.

Rich Hall/Katy Dines achieved 5-7, 9-3 , 9-3.

While the pairing of Gary Brickles/Clare Hogg rounded out the proceedings scoring 5-7, 8-4, 7-5.
