Angling Lines: Battle of the big weights
There were some great weights at Railway Club’s match at Mill Dam Fisheries on Sunday, with all anglers catching from the start.
Around the lake there were fish being lost mainly due to the fish winning the battle. These fish really do fight. There were also a few pole breakages, much to the disappointment and frustration of those anglers.
There were some very close weights from the top six and it could’ve been anyone’s match in the end.
It was won by Barry Young, on peg 23, with 205lb 13oz, followed in second by Dean Senkiw on peg 15 with 204-11, and Leanne Knott on peg four with 198-13.
Only one angler was disqualified because his net went over the 60lb rule.

There was a slow start to Martin Pestell’s open match at Portlands Fisheries, Canal Lake, on Sunday but the fish came on in the last couple of hours
The match saw 28 turn out to fish and so only two pegs were removed from the draw.
The fish didn’t have much room to hide.
