Newark Athletic Club sees great finishes in the Notts and Lincolnshire cross country county championships




THE Newark Athletic Club have rocketed into 2023 with some excellent results from their runners.

The Notts Cross County Championships were held in Bulwell Park.

The following day, Lincolnshire Cross Country Championships were held at Biscathorpe with athletes striving to earn a place representing their counties for the upcoming inter-counties Cross Country event to be held in March.

The roughly 7.5 km course saw Rebecca Gallop come in fourth in the senior female race and earn a place on the county team.

Kim Etheringron- Bates finished in 48th place in the event.

Jan Bailey was selected for the Notts team after finishing in fifth position overall and was the county v45 champion in the men's race which was 10km long.

Other results saw Leigh Marshall come in 15th, Daniel Wheat finish 19th, Dave Robinson run 30th, Jamie Macintyre place 57th, and Richard Peach finish in 99th.

The Newark club were crowned the master's champions.

The club also did well in the Lincolnshire event with a county place earned by Elliot Ratasmussen- Smith who came second in his age group and Connor Pacey who came seventh in the senior male category.

Rob Lindsay won his age group as he crossed the line first in the V40 category.

Helena Schofield came fourth in the senior ladies' race.
