ProNoctis/Rotor/RedChilliBikes/HeidiKjeldsen Elite Women’s Team booming in Birmingham with podium lockout
It was another winning weekend for Newark and Lincoln-based riders from the ProNoctis/Rotor/RedChilliBikes/HeidiKjeldsen Elite Women’s Team, who earned a podium lockout at Solihull Parkway in Birmingham
Jo Tindley broke away to win, before Corinne Side and Newark’s Isabel Darvill completed the race in second and third respectively.
Cycling expert Franklin Snyder said it was a powerful and dominant performance by the team, who are now regarded as the best women’s domestic team in the UK.
Newark’s Rebecca Richards, racing for the Storey Racing Team, finished in a very creditable sixth place in the same race.
Last Sunday, Richards also competed, finishing 12th in the Spatswear Rayner Foundation Spring Women’s race in Leeds to kick-start her road season, after spending a period of time training in America over the winter months.
Southwell’s Ian Russell, racing for the Moda Race Team, competed in the British Masters Cycle Racing promotion at the LVRC Omloop Van Der Dries Dorpen race at Rugby on Sunday.
He finished third in his age category race against a tough field.
The unusual race was held on a 5.6-mile lap covered six times, totalling 33 miles.
It included tar and gravel surfaces on rough farm tracks reminiscent of the famous Paris-Roubaix Race in France, which begins this weekend.
Newark Castle Cycling Club’s Lissaman Sisters competed in round one of the British Cycling National Mountain Bike Cross Country Series at the Parkwood Outdoor Centre, Bradford.
Florence finished 12th in the junior female race.
Charlotte did not finish the junior female race in what were wet and muddy conditions.
