Epic Golden Gloves fighters go on the road in tough displays of boxing with John Issac Coverdale getting a rare knockdown in the young boxing scene

IT WAS a productive period of boxing for Esham Pickering's fighters as Epic Golden Glove's representatives were up and down the country plying their craft.

12-year-old Alfie Holmes won in Leeds against Tyler Massey who was boxing for the home side's Golden Team.

Massey had previously had three unbeaten fights with Alfie handing doing well to hand him his first loss.

In Nottingham, Alfie backed up less than 24 hours later to take on Alan Collins.

Alfie was unlucky not to get the win against his opponent despite putting in a solid performance.

20-year-old Lukas Lukjanovas lost a close contest in Leeds with his coach Esham Pickering saying he believed the young fighter would come back strongly from the experience.

In only his second bout, 16-year-old Carter Rafferty lost a close fight against Usman Hussun from Cuba Boxing Club in Leeds.

John Isaac Coverdale was in a great matchup against a tough Jake Lambert and had the odds stacked against him, said Pickering.

In the last round, Coverdale hit his opponent with a great right hand which put his adversary on one knee briefly.

Pickering added that it is very rare for a 12-year-old to get a knockdown and this won the young Epic Golden Gloves fighter the bout on points.

Young up-and-coming boxer, 12-year-old Robert Morton took on Kyle Hull from Little Oakley in an excellent match-up winning the bout.

"Robert was the stronger boxer and deserved the unanimous decision but this will make for a great rematch," said coach Esham Pickering.
