Bronze for Dixon
Newark hockey star Adam Dixon won a bronze medal with England with a 2-1 victory over Australia in the Hockey World League bronze final in India.
Former Newark Hockey Club player Dixon, who scored two goals earlier in the tournament, helped his team into the semi-final with a 1-0 win over Belgium.
They missed out on a place in the final following a sudden-death shoot-out defeat (6-7) to New Zealand.
England, ranked fourth in the world, had only conceded two goals in the tournament before the semi-final.
Their victory over Australia in the bronze final came in controversial circumstances. The Australians thought they had forced extra-time with a last-gasp equaliser, but the goal was ruled out by the video umpire for obstruction in what was the final play of the game.
