Newark Tennis Club’s third team captain Jamie Croft pleased with battling performance against Trent University 2nds
Newark Tennis Club’s newly-formed men’s third team suffered a defeat at Trent University 2nds, but there were still plenty of positives to take.
Team captain Jamie Croft said it was the best performance of the season in the 57-51 Division Ten loss as they pushed the university team all the way.
The group now look forward to their first summer season in the Notts league.
Newark’s men’s first team had more success on their London Road home court earning a 66-42 win over Division Seven leaders Sutton Bonington.
Sam Smith/James Lalyk won 22-14 (8-4, 4-8, 10-2) and the duos of Steve Cartledge/Jon Thornton (8-4, 8-4, 7-5) and Edgars Barvinski/Rich Hall (7-5, 6-6 ,8-4) also found success with 23-13 and 21-15 wins respectively.
The team sit join top spot with one match to go.
It was a local derby in Division Ten as Newark 3rds took on Collingham 1sts.
And it was Collingham who reigned supreme with a 75-33 win.
