Caythorpe losing draw against Radcliffe 1sts but James Hindson takes six wickets
James Hindson took six wickets as Caythorpe laboured to a losing draw against relegation-strugglers Radcliffe 1sts.
Caythorpe captain James Hawley won the toss and elected to have Radcliffe bat first.
As their hosts fell to 33 for two it looked like a good choice, but stand-in captain Robert Sutton (42) and former Caythorpe bat, Josh Mierkalns (58) combined for an 85-run stand that turned the game around.
Radcliffe pushed on and were all out with one ball remaining, having totalled 169.
James Hindson took six for 42 for Caythorpe in his second six-wicket haul of the season.
In reply, Caythorpe never got going, finding themselves 17 for three on the way to 79 for six.
Jim Hindson and Richard Beaumont were able to see out the final ten overs to deny Radcliffe a first full win of the season, but the home side’s 16 points are their first positive result of the season and lift them out of the bottom two.
Caythorpe, for whom extras (30) top-scored, took seven points and remain in sixth place.
