Ced Baldwin wins charity match
A TOTAL of 42 anglers took part in the annual charity match organised by Melvin Glass and hosted by Collingham, where the top three all fished on Centenary Lake.
Winner was Ced Baldwin on peg 12, fishing pole and swapping between caster and paste to catch F1s and small mirror carp weighing 67-5-0.
Runner-up was Alan Treadwell on peg 23, fishing pole and pellet taking advantage of an empty peg fishing down the edge for 52-7-0, and in third was Pete Willis, fishing a pellet feeder on peg 17 to catch some big mirror carp for 47-14-0.
Top rod on Willow and in fourth place was Keith Archer fishing a feeder on peg 11 for 46-6-0 and back on Centenary, on peg 27, was Bill Watchorn in fifth with 45-7-0.
A total of £460 was raised, which will be split between the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and a prostate cancer charity.
On Saturday, Currys AC fished their penultimate match of the year at Metheringham Fen lake. With all 20 pegs taken the fish didn’t really want to feed, which did lead to a very tight finish with only 2lbs 5oz between the top four.
Winner on peg 15 was Pete Willis on peg 15 fishing dead reds down the edge for 96-4-0 followed in second by Barry Young on peg 16 fishing a feeder to start and the maggots in the margin for 94-12-0.
Alan Cullington was third on peg ten with 94-1-0 and Alan Watts fourth with 93-15-0.
Barry Young, who has already won the league, has an advantage of 35 points.
Collingham fished at Millennium fishery on Sunday with 34 members fishing and Centenary again out-fished Willow.
Winner was Danny Breslin fishing a method feeder on Centenary 18 with pellet for 58-8-8. Just beaten into second was Ced Baldwin, fishing pole and paste on Willow 14 with 57-12-0, and third on Centenary 28 was Keith Hage fishing pole and pellet for 55-12-8. Bernie Mawers was fourth on Willow 11 with 55-6-0 and Alan Treadwell fifth on centenary 24 with 49-6-8.
Railway Club fished at Haverholme and the top three all cracked the ton with plenty of big carp caught and, as usual, plenty lost.
Winner was Colin Weir on peg 13, fishing pole and meat in the margins for 124-15-0, and runner up was Pete Knott on peg 22 fishing pole and pellet for 121-7-0. In third was Chris Young who was again on peg one fishing maggots in the margins for 119-3-0 and fourth was Barry Young on peg 21 who also fished maggot for 96-3-0.

Newark WMC fished their annual Pagger Lowe Memorial match on Portlands Old Wood lake with tactics restricted to rod and line and waggler floats only.
Winner was Mark Neal on peg 17 fishing pellet for 46-7-0 and in second was Rob Lowe on peg 16 who fished corn for 44-10-0. Paul Thompson on peg 19 was third with 36-13-0 caught on pellets and fourth was Gary Lowe with 34-1-0 caught on pellet from peg two.
Best fish on the day and also of their season was an 18-1-0 carp landed by John O’ Leary.

New Inn fished at Peacock Lake, Gunthorpe, where the pegs down the bottom end were best with Simon Curtis on peg 21 catching 62-14-0 of carp on pole and maggot.
Will Sweeney in second on peg 17 fished meat and corn for 61-8-0 and third was Nigel Lale on peg 20 with 4-13-0. Steve Baker was fourth with 52-10-0 on peg 14.

Newark Federation’s latest match was at East Stoke where 12 fished.
Winner was Phil Hall on peg 20 fishing stick float and caster with an all roach catch of 7-5-0. Second on peg 22 was Arthur Rigley fishing a feeder for two bream weighing 7-4-0 and third was Ron Martin fishing float and maggot for 4-7-0.
