Emma Dolan defeats Nicola Hopewell in Sheffield to keep her Commonwealth Title Belt infront of Ebanie Bridges and Jonny Nelson in epic boxing fight
The Commonwealth title belt will be returning to the area after Emma Dolan defeated tenacious challenger Nicola Hopewell at The Clash of The Court event last night (Friday, October 6) in Sheffield.
The GBM Sports event was held at the Canon Medical arena and featured a jam-packed card with the women's bout headlining the show.
Dolan's Commonwealth Super-Flyweight title defence against Hopewell had been the chief supporting contest before the WBA Continental Lightweight Championship belt bout was cancelled on the day of the event.
The original headliner bout between Reece Mould and Martin McDonagh was cancelled after McDonagh withdrew due to last-minute medical advice received by the Kent-based fighter.
However, fans were not disappointed as the Newark based, Carl Greaves' trained fighter, Dolan, and Worksop's Hopewell put on an East Midlands derby that thrilled the crowd.
Dolan's first title defence was ultimately successful as the judges scored 98-92, 98-93, and 99-91 in her favour.
Despite a courageous showing, Dolan's opponent Hopewell lost her undefeated status and now sits with a record of 3-1.
