South Nottinghamshire hockey leaves it all on the pitch




The South Notts men’s 1sts hockey team drew 3-3 against Barton at home.

Scorers for South Notts were Dan Recaldin, James Turner and Sam Clough, who came up through the club’s youth system.

The 2nds also hosted Barton at home in Bingham, winning 2-0.

The game began with their Barton counterparts immediately going on the attack as they overloaded the midfield and created several good chances.

James Bellamy hit his debut goal to put South Notts up 1-0.

This was followed quickly by Thomas Brackenbury who coolly and calmly extended the lead to 2-0.

The team’s youngsters held firm against Barton’s powerful counter-attacks.

The side now sit second in the league table after a fine start to the season.

The South Notts Men’s 3rds won decisively over Barton with a 5-1 score.

After being down 5-0, Barton managed a consolation goal in the final stages of the game.

The men’s 4ths lost narrowly to West Bridgford in a 3-2 scoreline.

West Bridgford were lucky to hold the advantage after the South Notts team fought back vigilantly, falling just short of a draw.

The ladies’ 4ths from South Notts won 4-0 as Caroline Brackenbury achieved her hat-trick.

The side went into the half-time break up 2-0.

Gemma Robinson and Samantha Marwick kept lurking unmarked and were a constant danger to the Players team.

Marwick scored the other goal in the second-half as her persistence paid off.
