Newark Hockey Club to hold tournament in remembrance of former player Sam White who died from cancer




Newark Hockey Club will again run a tournament for the local primary schools in memory of Sam White.

Sam was a member of the club and lost his battle with cancer in September 2013.

The tournament will be held at The Magnus school on Thursday, March 28 from 1pm - 4pm.

This year 11 schools from all over Newark and beyond will be taking part.

Newark men’s 1st team travelled to Lady Bay where they defeated Boots 2-1.

Newark women’s 1st team achieved a 1-0 win over Manning thanks to a goal from Sophie Chambers.

It was another fine with for South Notts Hockey Club as their women’s side defeated Workshop 3-0.

Goals came from Becky Humfris (2) and Evie Bates who scored one.
