Coach Halfpenny predicts bright future for his team
Newark Hockey Club Ladies’ 1st XI coach Paul Halfpenny says that his side are yet to fulfil their potential.
Halfpenny’s team, who are enjoying their winter break at the moment, have reached their target ahead of schedule, achieving Midlands League status in four years.
Halfpenny, who was named coach of the year at last month’s Newark and Sherwood Sports Awards, is now laying out a new five-year plan for the side.
“The idea was to get the first team up there in five years, but it was important that the other teams at the club followed them,” he said.
“It’s no good having the first team playing Midlands hockey and the others being left behind, so it was good that the 3rd XI got promoted as well.
