Dearne & District 2-7 Collingham: Gary Clark praises front three of Kieran Job, Jo-Jo Bilton and Will Hollingsworth
Two of Collingham’s front three scored hat-tricks on Saturday in what manager Gary Clark said was a near-perfect second-half performance from his side.
Having gone into half time at 2-2, Collingham hit five without reply in the second period as Will Hollingsworth and Kieran Job completed their hat-tricks, while Lewis Stott also chipped in with a goal.
The CMFL North Division win was Collingham’s seventh of the season.
Clark said: “At half-time, we spoke about making sure things are right before we do them after what happened in the first half — and we were unbelievable.
“Everything we did was good and we had quality in our game. Kieran, Will and Jo-Jo (Bilton) complimented each other so we ll as a front three.
“The only negative was Jo-Jo didn’t score because he deserved it.
“He has put a lot of work in recently, playing out of position and working unselfishly, but beyond that it was the perfect performance.”
Collingham took the lead twice in the game, going one-nil and 2-1 ahead, but were pegged back before the break.
“We got into the swing of the game early, it helped scoring after a minute,” said Clark.
“Our luck of conceding ‘worldies’ continued as they made it 1-1.
“Five minutes before half-time we scored again, so we wanted to put our foot to the floor and get the game won as early as possible.
“Then about a minute before half-time they scored.
“Their goals came from two errors on our part.
“We spoke previously about setting up and making sure we are ready to play, and the first goal was from a goal kick that we didn’t sort properly and the other was from a centre-half taking a throw-in that he didn’t need to take.”
Despite a rocky end to the half, Collingham came out of the block flying.
Clark said he hoped to continue that form on Saturday at Sheffield Reserves, but understood he would be with a much-changed side due to a pre-planned event outside of football.
Collingham face a tough run at the end of March which will see them take on title challengers Newark Town, Retford and Thorne.
