Fernwood Foxes joint manager Andrew Mosedale praised his players as they were crowned Notts Youth League under-18 Division Three champions.

Beaten just once, Fernwood finished seven points ahead of second-placed Bingham Town.

The club were joined by joint manager John Mersh at the start of the season, who played a large part in the success.

Mosedale said it had been a pleasure to watch the team grow as footballers and people.

"We had massive support from the club," he said.

"It is an excellent community-led club and we are proud to be part of it.

"This was a team effort — players, parents and coaching staff alike.

"The team bonding was great to see and, coupled with fantastic play, is what got us over the line.

"The players have grown into young men. They have made John and I proud, and they should be proud of themselves."

As most of the team are under-17s this season, many will have a second season at under-18 level next year.
