Newark Rugby Club’s colts beat Mansfield 41-0 in the Notts, Lincs & Derbys Cup Final at Ashfield




Newark Rugby Club’s colts squad powered their way to a 41-0 victory over Mansfield on Saturday in the final of the Notts, Lincs & Derbys Cup at Ashfield.

Victory continues the squad’s excellent unbeaten season of 15 wins and two draws from 17 games.

Newark led 19-0 at half-time having made a good start and then showing some strong defence to withstand Mansfield best period of the match.

First-half tries came from Lenny Coen, Toby Waller and Elliott Paley. Newark dominated the second half to add four more scores through Dan Woodward, Monty Mullins, Robbie Scoular and Evan Marshall. Charlie North kicked two conversions and Paley one.

The colts are scheduled to face Corsairs next Saturday alongside the 1sts’ league match against Mellish which kicks-off at 3pm.

Newark’s senior team had a weekend off for a break in league fixtures which coincided with the finale to the Six Nations.

They will be looking for an improved performance after losing heavily at Walsall in their last match, 58-24.
