Oli Dyson stands down as captain of Collingham in the Nottinghamshire Premier League Division Two cricket competition
The captain of one of the best cricket clubs in the area has stepped down.
The message from Oli Dyson who has captained Collingham for the last six years was that he was taking a step back but would remain an integral part of the setup at the club.
"It is a huge role being captain, not just on the field but there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes," said Dyson.
"We are such a big club now that the role has just evolved.
"It has been an absolute honour and a privilege to captain the club.
"I am proud of how far we have come, if you look back over the last six years you would be blown away by the changes.
"The development of the club has come on leaps and bounds with more players in the ranks.
"The 2nd and 3rd sides are coming along really well.
"The development of the club is probably what I am most proud of but with a young family at home and ever-growing work commitments, it is time to step back as captain.
"I will still be playing for Collingham, I am still committed to the club and I still want to drive the club forward on the field."
Dyson played in the junior ranks of the club and has been in the senior set-up for over 15 years.
His highest score with the bat was 161 against Lambley in the Newark Cricket Alliance in 2011.
Dyson guided Collingham to promotion to the Nottinghamshire Premier League Division Two and is known for his passion for the club.
So far he has scored 12688 runs for the club across all competitions and averaged 34.95 with the bat over his time.
Dyson has hit 16 centuries, 70 half-centuries and scored nearly 17% of the total club runs of the teams he has played in for his club.
The outgoing skipper is also an all-rounder taking best bowling figures of six wickets for 62 and a total of 223 wickets for an average of 26.9 runs.
