Newark’s Isabel Darvill takes 12th in televised Tour Series at Clacton on Sea




Newark’s Isabel Darvill – racing for the Pro-Noctis/Rotor/RedChilliBikes/HeidiKjeldsen women’s cycling team – took 12th spot in round five of the televised Tour Series at Clacton on Sea last week.

Team-mates Jo Tindley was in second spot and Lucy Ellmore fourth to retain the standing of the best overall team in the series.

The team then raced round six at Barking on Saturday with Tindley finishing fifth, Darvill seventh, Lucy Ellmore sixth, Bex Dew 32nd and Poppy Thompson in 56th place after crashing earlier in the race.

Darvill got her elite category licence that night after gaining the necessary points.

The final round seven is in Manchester based on a circuit in Deansgate in the city centre.

Jack Levick – racing for the Rose Race team – carried on his winning run after finishing first in the LRRA (Lincoln Wheelers) 10 mile time trial on Sunday with a time of 19 minutes 32 seconds averaging 30.717mph.

Former national champion, Julian Ramsbottom of Team Bottrill, finished second in a time of 20 minutes 56 seconds.

Newark Castle Cycling Club held round two of their road bike eight-mile time trial based on the Flawborough Circuit.

Oliver Saunder of the promoting club finished first in a time of 19 minutes 3 seconds.

Second was Mark Greenwood in 19.07, third Peter Cocker 19.13, fourth Thomas Foreman 19.33, fifth Martin Hall 19.47, sixth Ethan Squires 20.17 which was an outstanding ride from a 15-year-old juvenile rider from Nottingham (Beeston CC).
