Esham Pickering's gym Epic Golden Gloves showcases success and plans their own show
A busy period of boxing for the Epic Golden Gloves gym has seen a number of their fighters perform in winning bouts.
Lukasz jucharski defeated Akon Nagra from the One Nation Gym in Derby, at an event in Scunthorpe while 15-year-old Aaron Laybourn beat Rupert Clarke from Skegness at an event in Staveley, Chesterfield.
The boxers are trained in Newark under former fighter Esham Pickering who was a European, British and Commonwealth champion.
Pickering’s Newark-based gym will also be sending several fighters to the Jawaid Khaliq Boxing Club show in St Anns, Nottingham, on Saturday where it is hoped the Epic Golden Gloves fighters can continue its recent success.
Fighting for the Newark-based gym will be 13-year-old Robert Morton, 13-year-old Cody Havelock, and 12-year-old John Issac Coverdale alongside Aaron Laybourn who will be back in action.
Twelve-year-old Alfie Holmes and 20-year-old Lukas Lukjanovas will be heading to represent their club at a boxing event in Leeds on Friday night.
Pickering added that the gym would be hosting a double show over the afternoon and evening of May 27 at the Area UK venue near Grantham.
Pickering said he was hoping for 16 bouts on each show for a total of 32 with the events running from around noon until 8pm.
