South Nottinghamshire Cricket League round-up featuring Farndon and Southwell




Farndon were knocked off top spot in Division D of the South Nottinghamshire League after falling to their third defeat of the season on Saturday.

The one-time leaders were beaten by 122 runs against Basford Mill who replaced Farndon at the top of the table after the victory.

A stunning century from Taimoor Tasnim took the game away from Farndon after they had put their visitors into bat and started strongly.

Basford were 58-4 when Tasnim came to the crease and he proceeded to smash 14 fours and eight sixes in his 141 not out.

It propelled Basford to 296-6 from their 45 overs with Adam Baldwin having taken three wickets for Farndon.

Baldwin was then the star turn with the bat for Farndon as they were bowled out for 174 in their reply.

He blasted five fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 59 while Alex Youngman made 22 with Andrew Lamb adding 21 for the defeated hosts.

Southwell have dropped into the bottom two after a seven-wicket home defeat against Clifton Village 2nds on Saturday.

Jonathan Butler blasted 10 boundaries in his 73 while Mark Bowie added 30 as Southwell were dismissed for 197 after electing to bat first

An undefeated 85 from Arush Deb then steered Clifton to victory inside 37 overs with Bowie, Toby Stanley and Will Ashworth each picking up a wicket for Southwell.

Four wickets from Matt Clarke helped Southwell 2nds to victory at Gotham Village in Division J.

Clarke claimed 4-30 while Liam Waspe and Martin Wagstaff both took two wickets each as Gotham were bowled out for 97.

Chris Miller led the Southwell reply with 31 while Waspe was unbeaten on 10 at the close as the win was wrapped up inside 29 overs.

Farndon 2nds were also victorious as they returned from their trip to Burton Joyce Lions with a five-wicket win.

Mark Everington and Jim McKay took 4-13 and 4-15 respectively as the Lions were bowled out for 94.

Luke McGuiness then guided Farndon to their fourth league win of the season with an undefeated 38.
