Farndon progress with building of pavilion and entering both women's and girls competitions
With cricket season officially over, Farndon has not been sitting on its laurels as they look to expand their club's female programmes and infrastructure.
The new pavilion is progressing well and beginning to take shape said club captain, Martyn Hill.
The club has also featured prominently in a new virtual T20 tournament that sees girls use BatFast cricket simulators in a computerised competition.
This pits local girls teams against the front-line bowling attack of the Lightning regional women’s team.
Farndon has sent two teams, their under-11 side has had the most success with the top score of their competition seeing them hit 142 off 120 balls.
Bluebell Alexander managed 55 with the bat in a superb effort for her team.
The under-13 team saw Emily Arnold strike 36 for her club as the top scorer for her side.
Hill said the girls were enjoying the competition which has been extended until mid-November to allow more girls to participate.
The Farndon women's side has entered the indoor softball league which is played at Barnby Road Academy in Newark.
They join teams from Newark and Collingham in the competition.
Hill said the women have now been entered into the East Midlands Women's Cricket League for next season and they are excited to compete.
