Newark Tennis Club have great start in short format Notts League Division Five competition

Newark Tennis Club’s new mixed second team made a great start in the short format Notts League Division Five competition.

They ran out 8-4 winners at Bingham with James Lalyk and Clare Hogg taking all four sets (7-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2).

Ludwig Boneschans and Lynne Hare won two sets (2-6, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3) as did Jamie Croft and Helen Isaacs (3-6, 1-6, 6-0, 6-1).

It was a tough start for the mixed first team in Division Three of the Summer League after last season’s promotion.

They were beaten 84-60 by Woodthorpe with Sam Smith and Sara Jackson winning their games 10-6, 9-7, 11-5 (30-18).

James Lalyk and Tamsin Ellis were beaten 7-9, 5-11, 4-12 (16-32) while Steve Cartledge and Lynne Hare went down 6-10, 3-13, 5-11 (14-33).
