Romaine Graham discusses his team’s five wins in a row as Newark and Sherwood United establish themselves as the in form team in the United Counties Premier Division North competition
It has been an impressive start for a young manager at the helm of his first club.
Romaine Graham steered Newark and Sherwood United to their fifth victory in a row with a 2-1 win against hosts Hucknall Town.
The victory saw them face off against their former striker Niall Towle.
A goal from Liam Moran in the 22nd was followed a minute later with another from Luke White.
The two goal salvo saw Newark and Sherwood put the hosts firmly on the back foot in the first-half.
However, despite leading 2-0 at the break and then facing a reduced home side after the hosts lost Omreiki Myles who picked up two yellow cards in quick succession — The Highwaymen were unable to increase the lead further.
Aaron Short clawed one back for Hucknall and the travelling support held their breath to the final whistle before their side were declared the victors.
Romaine Graham spoke to Newark and Sherwood United’s media team after his team’s 2-1 victory on the road over The Yellows.
“You could say that it was a game of two halves,” said Graham.
“We were so dominant in the first-half, it was one of the most complete performances I have seen us display.
“Credit to Hucknall when they dropped to ten men, they just put it on us.
“They just kept popping up and being first on the ball.
“We got the win in the end so that is the main thing.”
