Ben Norman is the new Midlands area flyweight boxing champion
Saturday night saw a new Midlands area flyweight champion crowned.
Champion Ben Norman defeated Liam Dring at the Harvey Hadden Leisure complex in Nottingham.
Throughout the bout, which onlookers described as a war, Ben said he felt comfortable.
The battle was tightly scored with the Carl Greaves fighter coming out on top.
It was a nice comeback for the Newark-based fighter after losing his last fight, the first loss of his career.
The other fighter from the Carl Greaves camp to feature at the Harvey Hadden Leisure complex was Stanley Stannard, who extended his winning record to 8-0 by defeating Craig Sumner.
Greaves said: "It was a slow start but (Stannard) warmed into it, going through the gears to wear down and stop the tough Craig Sumner in the fourth round."
Stannard will next fight at Leicester Arena on September 24.
