"It is a step up to play in the highest league in the county.

"To be honest, I probably should have done it a while ago but better late than never."

Dyson has been at Collingham for 20 years and spent 16 seasons in the first team.

He is well-known around the region for his dedication and loyalty to his club.

"I loved being the captain," said Dyson.

"But when I stepped down from the position, the focus shifted from the club to me and I thought now is the ideal time to go and test myself.

"I am 30 now so I think it is fitting that I try my hand at a higher level while I still have the chance.

"This has not been an easy decision because I genuinely love the club.

"Collingham and District Cricket Club have some amazing people who make the club what it is, I genuinely wish them all the best.

"I am almost certain that I will play for Collingham again in the future."

Dyson said he was looking forward to joining Welbeck and believes he is up to the challenge.

"I know a few of the lads there, and the facilities are awesome.

"They have a great ground and an amazing history.

"Working with Richard Stroh the captain was a big draw card.

"He is a well-known name in the county and is a very good batsman.

"I am going to go in there with a full focus on performing, building on my fitness, and a commitment to helping Welbeck succeed.

"I am confident that I can contribute to the success of the club.

"I cannot wait to start practicing, work hard, and have a real go at it."

David Pipes, the chairman of Collingham and District Cricket Club said Dyson had been an exemplary servent of the club.

"Oli has written himself into the club's record books not only as a great batsman but also as a leader who has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history," said Pipes.

"His tenacity and will to win has led us to great heights on and off the field where our status as a club is exactly where we want to be.

"He has left the club in positive shape and we wish him well in his new venture."
